The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, received the Commander of Narcotics, Mohammad Tukur, of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Apapa Strategic Command, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos on Friday.
The visit reinforced the partnership between the NDLEA and the Ports Authority Police in tackling drug trafficking and other transnational crimes within Nigeria’s seaports.
Commander Tukur commended the Command for its consistent support in joint operations, intelligence sharing, and maintaining a secure maritime corridor. He emphasized that collaboration among security agencies is vital to curbing illicit drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
In her remarks, CP Agbaminoja welcomed the NDLEA delegation and highlighted the importance of synergy among agencies operating within the ports. She noted that the complexity of port-related crimes — including smuggling, organized criminal networks, and drug trafficking — requires coordinated strategies and seamless cooperation.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations, joint enforcement, and capacity-building initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. She stressed that a secure port system is fundamental to national security, economic growth, and investor confidence.
Both agencies pledged to deepen collaboration through regular strategic engagements, enhanced intelligence exchange, and strengthened enforcement mechanisms to rid the ports of criminal elements.
