The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and Dangote Refinery have reaffirmed their commitment to a strategic alliance aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s energy security and economic prosperity.

On Saturday, NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, led a high-level delegation to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State. The visit included a facility tour and discussions that underscored both organizations’ shared vision for Nigeria’s energy future.

Engr. Ojulari commended Dangote Group President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for his perseverance in delivering the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery — a landmark project positioning Nigeria as a major downstream hub in Africa.

Speaking on the partnership, Ojulari described the alliance as one that would “unlock synergies across assets, infrastructure, capital, and markets,” while providing visibility into all NNPC–Dangote business relations. He highlighted opportunities for expansion into upstream operations, trading, shipping, and gas supply.

Ojulari also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his policy clarity and investor-friendly reforms, noting that such leadership has created an enabling environment for partnerships of this scale to thrive.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote emphasized that Nigerians will be the ultimate beneficiaries of the collaboration, as it will achieve economies of scale and unlock value across markets.

The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation in pursuit of shared objectives — ensuring energy security, driving industrial growth, and delivering value to Nigerians.

NNPC Ltd currently holds a 7.25 percent stake in the Dangote Refinery, a strategic investment aligned with its downstream growth objectives and commitment to boosting domestic refining capacity.
