Efforts of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), under the supervision of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, to create awareness of the Blue Economy by establishing Blue Economy information desks at all international airports in Nigeria are already yielding fruits.
The plan was well received by the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) when the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh (OFR) had a fruitful discussion with the former.
The establishment of Blue Economy desks at the entry points, which include international airports, is expected to foster inter-ministerial collaboration in harnessing the vast potential within the Nigerian maritime sector. The primary objective is to create awareness of a functional intermodal transport system and promote tourism, among other critical elements of a maritime nation.
The information desks at the international airports will provide passengers and visitors to Nigeria with valuable information on the maritime sector’s immense potential and its role in the nation’s economic development.
