The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has issued a strongly worded statement criticizing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and accusing Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima of undermining the party’s integrity.
Speaking through its Secretary General, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, NNPP expressed disappointment that Hakeem Baba Ahmed, Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), paid a solidarity visit to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) without first addressing NNPP’s grievances.
The NNPP accused Kwankwaso and Galadima of converting the party’s logo and structures into their private concern without authorization. According to the statement, Kwankwaso later advised his Kwankwasiya Movement to collapse state structures into ADC, leaving behind factions led by Dipo Olayoku, Barr. Ladipo Johnson, and Prince Onu Nweze.
The party warned ADC against condoning what it described as “evil and ungratefulness,” stressing that such actions could have divine consequences.
NNPP also accused INEC of disobeying a compelling order of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, which directed compliance within 72 hours. The party argued that INEC had assumed judicial powers by interpreting court judgments instead of enforcing them, thereby undermining democracy.
“INEC has converted their office into a courtroom,” the statement read, adding that the commission’s legal department has become “the greatest problem of democracy in Nigeria.”
The party urged President Bola Tinubu to investigate INEC’s conduct ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that NNPP may seek legal redress that could affect the electoral timetable if the commission continues to delay compliance.
While commending Baba Ahmed’s solidarity speech to ADC, NNPP insisted that ADC must confront Kwankwaso and Galadima over their alleged misconduct. “An injury to one is an injury to all,” the statement declared, urging ADC not to condone actions that could destabilize sister parties.
