The National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Mr. Emenike Nwokeoji, received a rousing reception on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, when the Apapa chapter hosted him at its newly acquired, strategically located secretariat in the popular Nnewi building, Apapa, Lagos. The modern facility, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, served as the perfect backdrop for the historic maiden visit.
National and chapter executives, elders of the association, and the women’s wing turned out in large numbers to welcome the President and his entourage. He was formally received by the Apapa Chapter Chairman, Chief Emeka Chukwumalu, alongside his executive team and other respected elders.
In his welcome address, Chief Chukwumalu described the President’s visit as a morale booster for the chapter, noting that it would inspire members to greater commitment and unity.
Mr. Nwokeoji, visibly moved by the warm reception, expressed gratitude to the chapter for the honour, while apologizing for arriving later than scheduled.
The President and his team later paid a courtesy call to the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, where they were received by Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba. Commending the command’s smooth operations and improved performance, Nwokeoji praised the cordial relationship between ANLCA members and Customs officers.
He assured Comptroller Oshoba that ANLCA members would continue to uphold professionalism and compliance with regulations for the collective good of the port system. He further lauded Oshoba’s effectiveness and achievements, noting that the association had been following the command’s progress closely.
In response, Comptroller Oshoba welcomed the delegation warmly and pledged that the command would remain open to dialogue with freight forwarders, commending ANLCA’s leadership for its proactive stance and cooperation.
Back at the chapter secretariat, Chief (Sir) John Ofobike, a former Chairman and Western Zone Coordinator widely regarded as the pillar of the Apapa chapter, urged members to close ranks and work together for the association’s collective good. He emphasized that elections were over and should not be allowed to sow division, stressing that unity was essential for the chapter’s success in the premier command.
The maiden historic visit of Mr. Nwokeoji to the Apapa chapter drew a mammoth crowd of national officers, chapter executives, and members, underscoring the significance of the occasion. The event not only strengthened ties between the national leadership and the Apapa chapter but also reinforced ANLCA’s commitment to collaboration with Customs authorities for the advancement of Nigeria’s port system.
