The organisers of the Annual Maritime Students and Youth (AMSAY) Conference have confirmed that renowned shipowner and Chairman of Starzs Investment Company Ltd, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, will chair the 10th anniversary edition of the event, scheduled for May 27, 2026, in Lagos.

This milestone edition marks a decade of youth engagement, innovation, and impact in Nigeria’s maritime sector. It is expected to attract industry leaders, policymakers, stakeholders, and young professionals from across the maritime ecosystem.

Ogbeifun’s return as Chairman is both symbolic and strategic. He chaired the maiden edition in 2016, and his reappointment underscores the conference’s commitment to connecting its origins with its present achievements.

Convener and CEO of Platforms Communications, Mr. Sylvanus Obasi, noted that the AMSAY Conference has evolved significantly over the past decade, introducing initiatives such as the Best Graduating Maritime Students Awards (BEGMASA), the Fola Ojutalayo Annual Maritime Speech-Making Competition (FOAMSC), and the Maritime Career Mentoring Program (M-CAMP).

“These programmes have become integral to the AMSAY brand, delivering measurable impact in youth development and professional capacity building,” Obasi said. “Bringing Engr. Ogbeifun back after ten years is a strategic move. It allows us to reflect on our journey and showcase our achievements.”

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Mr. Nnamdi Eronini, added that the 10th AMSAY Conference will feature robust discussions, mentorship engagements, and knowledge-sharing sessions. He reaffirmed the organisers’ commitment to advancing the maritime sector through sustained youth engagement and innovation, positioning the event as a leading platform for shaping the future of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
