The event, scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos, promises to be a convergence of industry leaders, government officials, and corporate organizations. It is designed to honour MARAN’s past presidents for their invaluable contributions to the association and the maritime sector at large.

Founded 38 years ago, MARAN has positioned itself as the foremost beat association for maritime journalists. In a statement signed by Caretaker Committee Chairman Tunde Ayodele and Planning Committee Chairman Funsho Olojo, the association confirmed that preparations for the high-profile ceremony are complete, with overwhelming support from stakeholders across the industry.

According to Ayodele, the reception will strengthen collaboration between the media and industry operators at a time of significant reforms in the maritime sector. Olojo, who also chairs MARAN’s Board of Trustees, emphasized that the event will celebrate excellence, hard work, and leadership, noting that past presidents have continued to excel in diverse fields including ministry, law, media, and public service.

Highlights of the programme will include award presentations, goodwill messages, and networking sessions aimed at fostering deeper engagement among stakeholders while celebrating the enduring role of maritime journalism in shaping policy and driving growth.

MARAN has called on industry stakeholders, corporate organizations, and well-meaning individuals to support the historic event through sponsorships, partnerships, and active participation.
