Detectives from the Ibafo Divisional Headquarters, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested two security guards — Isikilu Dauda, 55, and Rasaki Abbas — in connection with the alleged murder of a traveller identified as Promise in Ibafo, Ogun State.
The incident occurred on Thursday, April 10, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m. following a credible tip-off from a concerned citizen. Officers swiftly mobilized to the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the hospital. While en route, the victim disclosed that he had been attacked and macheted by security guards after arriving in the area late the previous night. He was later confirmed dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
The body was documented and deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigation revealed a trail of blood linking the crime scene to one of the suspects, leading to his arrest. Sustained efforts subsequently resulted in the apprehension of the second suspect, while a manhunt for other fleeing accomplices is ongoing.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, strongly condemned the act, assuring that all those involved will face justice. He reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for extrajudicial violence and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
