The Commander of the Materials Clearing and Inspection Office (MCIO), Nigerian Navy Apapa, Captain U.S. Akoh, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command, Lagos, on Thursday, 26 March 2026. The visit aimed to deepen cooperation and strengthen working relations between the two agencies.
According to a statement by CSC V. U. Ogagbor, Public Relations Officer of the command, discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in port operations, maritime security, cargo monitoring, and information sharing. Both institutions underscored the importance of synergy among government agencies to ensure seamless trade facilitation and safeguard national economic interests.
Captain Akoh emphasized the need for sustained cooperation, likening government institutions to parts of one body where each unit plays a vital role. He commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its professionalism and dedication to trade facilitation and revenue generation, stressing that collective effort remains essential to achieving national objectives.
In his remarks, the Customs Area Controller welcomed the Navy delegation and expressed appreciation for the continued partnership. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with partner agencies to strengthen security, promote compliance, and ensure efficient port operations.
The visit concluded with the exchange of plaques, symbolizing mutual respect and a renewed pledge to inter-agency collaboration for safer and more efficient maritime operations.
