The Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and immediate past President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-Fitr, marking the end of the holy Ramadan fast.
Comrade Adeyanju, a devout Muslim and respected labour leader, emphasized that peace — as taught and practiced by Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Unto Him) — remains the cornerstone of coexistence. He noted that the message of Allah in the Holy Quran is eternal and unalterable, urging Muslims to embody the virtues of the Prophet in their daily lives if they seek Aljannah (paradise).
The Oyo State-born Prince reminded believers that life after death is real, and judgment awaits every soul. He therefore admonished Muslims to remain steadfast in the teachings of the Quran, showing love and kindness to humanity.
Reaffirming that Islam is a religion of peace, Adeyanju stressed that no man has the authority to seek revenge on behalf of Allah, the Creator of all. He condemned terrorism, kidnapping, and other heinous crimes ravaging the country, urging perpetrators to repent and seek forgiveness from Allah, the Most Merciful.
He further appealed to warring factions in Nigeria to lay down arms and embrace dialogue, especially in the spirit of Ramadan, which culminates in the celebration of Eid-Fitr. Extending his prayers beyond Nigeria, Adeyanju called on Israel and Iran to exercise restraint and embrace peace, reminding them that both nations share the same divine source of life.
The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) President concluded by urging Muslims worldwide to celebrate Eid-Fitr with peace and to be agents of global harmony. He thanked Nigerian Muslims for their steadfastness in following the tenets of the Quran and wished all citizens a joyous and prosperous Sallah.
