The President‑General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid‑Fitr, urging them to emulate the life of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Unto Him) and reflect on the true significance of the celebration after the Ramadan fast.
Comrade Bunu emphasized that Eid‑Fitr is not merely a festivity but a spiritual reminder of purity, renewal, and communion with Almighty Allah. He noted that faith is incomplete without peaceful coexistence with people of other religions, stressing that all humanity comes from one Creator and must accord one another mutual respect.
He further highlighted that both Islam and Christianity share the same divine source, with differences only in methods of worship. Prophet Mohammed, he said, preached love, charity, and peace, and no one has the right to take another’s life under the guise of serving Allah, who alone is the ultimate judge of mankind.
Extending his felicitations to Muslims worldwide, Comrade Bunu prayed for victims of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, describing the war as needless and urging for its immediate end. He also called on insurgents tormenting communities in Nigeria and beyond to lay down their arms and embrace peace, in line with the Prophet’s philosophy of love and harmony.
Concluding his message, the MWUN leader saluted Muslims across the globe and advocated for a crime‑free society during this year’s Eid‑Fitr celebrations.
