The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC) has applauded the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for recent reforms that have significantly improved operations across Apapa, Tin Can, and other ports nationwide.
Speaking on behalf of the trucking community, Alhaji Shittu Rotimi Lukmon, Chairman of LASTCOC and CEO of Zangalo Commercial Enterprises Ltd., highlighted the positive impact of the NPA’s renewed engagement under the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Authority.
“Dr. Dantsoho’s pragmatic and result-oriented approach has eased congestion, enhanced traffic flow, and ensured the seamless movement of export trucks into the Lagos Port Complex,” Shittu stated.
He noted that the reforms have also reduced bottlenecks at Export Processing Terminals (EPTs), bringing operational relief to truckers and other port users.
Shittu, who recently received the People’s Forum Award for Most Outstanding Role Model in Transport and Logistics Management, described Dr. Dantsoho’s leadership as “truly inspiring,” adding that the trucking community now has renewed confidence in the port system.
He further commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Engr. Adegboyega Oyetola, for his strong support and commitment to seamless port operations, particularly in export facilitation.
According to Shittu, the combined efforts of the public and private sectors are vital to building an efficient trade ecosystem capable of driving Nigeria’s economic growth and enhancing global competitiveness.
