The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) announces with deep sorrow the passing of Comrade Chris Eromosele Idagbonre, who died after a brief illness.
Comrade Chris served the Union faithfully for more than 25 years, rising to the position of Vice President-General (VPG) before his retirement in 2025. His career began at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Lagos, where he became an active member of the NPA Branch of MWUN. Throughout his service, he maintained an unblemished record and was widely respected for his dedication and integrity.
A pragmatic trade unionist, Comrade Chris was deeply committed to labour matters and humanity. He was known for his compassion, fairness, and selfless service to colleagues and members of the Union. The President-General of MWUN, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, described him as a man of integrity and a dependable partner in conflict resolution, whose contributions greatly strengthened the Union.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by his immediate family. The Union prays for the peaceful repose of his gentle soul and extends heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
