The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially lifted the indefinite suspension of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, restoring all his rights and privileges in the party.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major, confirmed that the decision followed a thorough review of the investigative committee’s report on the allegations previously leveled against the governor. The suspension, originally imposed in 2025, was declared null and void.

An emergency meeting held at the NNPP National Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday morning and attended by the National Working Committee (NWC) and in consultation with the party’s Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, unanimously endorsed the governor’s reinstatement.

Governor Yusuf has now been appointed as the National Leader of the NNPP, a role reserved for the party’s highest-ranking elected official. The party emphasized that he is to immediately assume this leadership position and help steer the NNPP toward unity and progress as it prepares for the 2027 elections.

The statement praised Governor Yusuf’s “boldness in standing up to imaginary forces” that sought to derail the party’s momentum, describing his actions as courageous and commendable.

Furthermore, the NWC reaffirmed the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his Kwankwassiya faction from the party. It also cautioned media outlets against referring to Kwankwaso as the NNPP’s national leader, stating that such references are misleading and inaccurate.
