The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, was celebrated at the 2025 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) with the Outstanding Revenue Collection Award, in recognition of his exceptional leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The prestigious ceremony took place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and was graced by top dignitaries including governors, agency heads, and senior government officials.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, praised Adeniyi’s tenure, highlighting his discipline, transparency, and professionalism. Akume noted that under Adeniyi’s stewardship, the NCS has consistently exceeded revenue targets, tightened border controls, and restored public confidence in government institutions.

“This award is a reflection of the kind of public service Nigeria needs at this critical moment,” Akume stated, emphasizing that NEAPS is designed to foster a culture of excellence and accountability in public institutions.

In his remarks, CGC Adeniyi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President, the SGF, and the award organizers. He dedicated the honor to the officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, calling it a collective achievement that would further inspire the Service to pursue even greater heights in revenue generation, border security, and trade facilitation.

“This recognition challenges us to work even harder,” Adeniyi said. “It reinforces our commitment to credible revenue administration and service that reflects integrity and excellence.”

The NEAPS awards, now in their second edition, are organized by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). The event celebrates individuals and institutions that exemplify outstanding public service across Nigeria.
