The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (Maritime), AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, and the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Toyin Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at the Agency’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos on November 17, 2025.
The engagement was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s maritime security framework as well as enhance operational efficiency across port corridors. The visit was also meant to foster inter-agency collaboration for safer maritime operations.
AIG Oko emphasized the need for a unified security strategy to protect Nigeria’s coastal waters and maritime assets. He commended NIMASA’s role in safety regulation and the Deep Blue Project. On his part CP Agbaminoja reaffirmed her Command’s commitment to securing major ports including Apapa, Tincan Island, Lekki Deep Sea Port, and others. She highlighted the marine unit’s patrol coverage extending 12 nautical miles from the ports.
Dr. Mobereola welcomed the delegation and expressed NIMASA’s readiness to deepen collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and capacity building.
Both parties agreed to maintain continuous engagement, synchronize operational efforts, build strategic partnerships to bolster maritime security and improve service delivery.
