The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone, generating ₦304 billion in revenue for October 2025 — the highest monthly collection ever recorded by any customs command in the history of the Service. This surpasses the previous record of ₦264 billion set in October 2024.
With this achievement, the command’s total revenue for the first ten months of 2025 has reached ₦2.4 trillion, exceeding its entire 2024 collection two months ahead of year-end.
According to a press statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC JT Ayagbalo, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, attributed the success to the dedication of officers and collaboration with stakeholders. He described the achievement as a launchpad for even greater revenue exploits under his leadership.
Oshoba emphasized the command’s readiness to handle increased trade volumes, citing the upcoming implementation of Drive Through Scanning technology capable of processing up to 150 containers per hour — a transformative step for trade facilitation in West Africa.
Following internal training for newly promoted Deputy and Assistant Comptrollers, the command is poised to deliver optimal performance in line with the directives of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
Oshoba reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on revenue leakages, highlighting strict enforcement of demand notices and vigilance against misapplication of Harmonised System (HS) Codes.
To ensure smooth cargo movement and prevent port congestion, Oshoba conducted unannounced visits to port access roads and met with truckers, freight forwarders, and customs agents. He also engaged with the Port Manager to reinforce collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Oshoba stated that cleared consignments must exit promptly to make room for incoming cargo, saying that delays impact trade and hinder our revenue and facilitation goals.
He concluded with a call for continued cooperation as he said that they have set a new benchmark, but will not stop there. “With collective effort, we’ll build on our achievements and deliver even greater results.”
