President Bola Tinubu has announced a major shake-up in Nigeria’s military leadership, a move aimed at reinforcing national security and reaffirming loyalty within the Armed Forces.
The new appointments are General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke, Chief of Air Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff while Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The changes, revealed by Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, take immediate effect and come amid growing public anxiety over persistent coup rumours and internal military tensions.
In recent months, Nigeria has been gripped by speculation of unrest within the ranks.
