In a formal handover ceremony held on Monday, 8 September 2025, Comptroller Sarah Mamza Wadinda (Rtd) officially transferred the mantle of leadership of the Lagos Industrial Area Command to Comptroller Adebola Salawu.
According to SC Juliana Destiny Tomo, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Comptroller Wadinda retired shortly after commissioning the Customs Cares corporate social responsibility initiative at Festac Senior Grammar School in August 2025. Her impactful contributions included:
– Installation of a water treatment plant
– Establishment of an electronic library
– Provision of a photocopier
– Refurbishment and painting of key school facilities, including the toilets
Comptroller Wadinda (Rtd) credited the success of the CSR project to the collaboration and support of stakeholders within the Command. She expressed deep appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for the opportunity to serve, and urged officers to extend their full cooperation to her successor in the pursuit of enhanced trade facilitation and revenue generation.
In her acceptance remarks, Comptroller Adebola Salawu commended her predecessor’s achievements and wished her well in retirement. She called on all officers to maintain the same spirit of teamwork and dedication, emphasizing the importance of the newly implemented Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu). She highlighted the need for continuous in-house training and stakeholder engagement to boost excise operations and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic development.
