The organizers of the widely reported National Youths Enlightenment Seminar (NAYES 2025) have made a change of venue for the one-day Enlightenment/Sensitization originally scheduled to take place at the Nigeria Customs Service Training College, Ikeja, Lagos, to the easily accessible and popular Lagos Airport Hotel, No. 111 Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos by 11 am today.
The change of venue, according to a press statement issued and signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Truewitness Communications and Media Services, Pastor Ambrose Obioma, was necessitated by certain factors. The organizers added that one of the core objectives of the program is to foster collaboration among government agencies, private organizations, and the civil society in the war against drugs.
The event will be chaired by the NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd), while the Commandant of the Customs Training College, Deputy Comptroller Hailey Madison, will serve as co-chair. Pastor Okehi also underscored the role of the media, describing it as a vital instrument in shaping public opinion. “We want to use the power of the media to rigorously campaign against drug abuse in Nigeria,” he stressed.
The management of Truewitness Communications and Media Services also noted that the one-day event would help to educate Nigerians and the general public on the inherent dangers associated with involvement in drug and consumption of those harmful substances. According to Okehi, NAYES is an initiative aimed at creating awareness, sensitizing the youths on the absurdity of engaging in any act that relates to drug addiction or intake of harmful and illicit drugs, while campaigning for a drug-free society.
At Truewitness, Okehi said, they believe that a drug-influenced youth produces a violent society while a drug-free environment guarantees a peaceful society.
