The newly deployed Customs Area Controller of Seme Area Command, Comptroller Abdullahi Kaila, has commenced his tenure with a familiarisation visit to sister security agencies along the Lagos\u2013Abidjan business corridor. <\/p>\n
Speaking during his visit to the 243 Recce Battalion, Ibereko Barracks, Badagry, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, Comptroller Kaila emphasized that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation and synergy in executing his statutory responsibilities as Area Controller. <\/p>\n
\u201cSeme border is a critical gateway for trade and services between Nigeria and other countries. Considering the volume of trade, movement of people, and cross-border activities, it is evident that Seme is a sensitive and strategic economic corridor. This is why continuous collaboration, intelligence sharing, and mutual support are vital,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n
Kaila further noted that effective synergy among sister security agencies would ensure economic stability and enhance the well-being of border communities. He urged his counterparts to deepen collaboration in fulfilling their shared mandate. <\/p>\n
In his response, the Commanding Officer of the 243 Recce Battalion, Lt. Colonel Ambrose Ikoro, commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its crucial role in border security. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe recognize the synergy and cooperation that exist between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Customs Service. We pledge to maintain and improve upon this relationship. Supporting Customs is necessary, and as directed by our Chief of Army Staff, units operating in border areas must support all relevant security agencies, including Customs,\u201d he affirmed. <\/p>\n
As part of his familiarisation tour, Comptroller Kaila also visited the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Badagry; the 15 Field Engineer Regiment of the Nigerian Army, Topo Badagry; and the NAFDAC Office at Seme.
