The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, to deepen operational collaboration in line with the policy thrusts of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD which are
\nConsolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Oshoba highlighted the CGC\u2019s three policy pillars of consolidation which is building on existing gains and strengthening the Customs\u2013Navy relationship within the Apapa axis. Collaboration which means emphasizing that modern border management requires synergy among agencies, noting Customs\u2019 dual role in trade facilitation and national security. The third is innovation, a way of doing things differently to achieve better results, with inter-agency cooperation as a key driver. <\/p>\n
He commended the Navy\u2019s role in safeguarding Nigeria\u2019s waters, stressing that maritime security underpins trade and port operations. Oshoba also sought sustained support along the Apapa port corridor to ensure seamless cargo movement. <\/p>\n
Responding, Rear Admiral Mustapha reaffirmed the importance of inter-agency coordination, stating: \u201cPort security is about inter-agency and coordination. Without security, there is no development.\u201d <\/p>\n
He praised the Customs Service under CGC Adeniyi for blocking revenue leakages and surpassing national revenue targets, adding that increased revenue translates into more infrastructure and social safety nets for the country. <\/p>\n
