{"id":9617,"date":"2026-02-18T21:36:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T21:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/?p=9617"},"modified":"2026-02-19T07:54:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T07:54:56","slug":"dangote-refinery-to-become-worlds-best-within-ten-years-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/2026\/02\/18\/dangote-refinery-to-become-worlds-best-within-ten-years-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"Dangote Refinery To Become World\u2019s Best Within Five Years \u2014 CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, David Bird, has pledged to position the facility as the best refinery in the world within the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during an engagement with newsmen after the inspection of the refinery and the fertilizer company in Lagos, Bird said the refinery is committed to operational excellence, innovation, and strict adherence to global best practices in order to achieve the ambitious target. <\/p>\n<p>According to him, the company will focus on efficiency, environmental sustainability, and the adoption of advanced technologies to compete with leading refineries across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, represents a major milestone in Nigeria\u2019s industrial development and is expected to transform the country\u2019s petroleum sector. Best explained that the management is determined to maximize production capacity, ensure product quality, and maintain international safety and environmental standards.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO added that over the next decade, the refinery would continue to invest in human capital, digital transformation, and process optimization to strengthen its global competitiveness. <\/p>\n<p>He expressed confidence that with the right strategies and support from stakeholders, the facility would emerge as a benchmark for refining operations worldwide.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Dangote Petrochemical Refinery, one of the largest single-train refineries in the world, is expected to significantly reduce Nigeria\u2019s dependence on imported petroleum products and boost economic growth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the effective distribution of petroleum products across the country, Bird maintained that the petroleum refinery has taken delivery of 4,000 compressed natural gas powered trucks which he said was an integral part of its free fuel distribution logistics <\/p>\n<p>He said the initiative aimed to transform the fuel distribution landscape within the country manifested during the last Christmas period as the nation for the first time freed from the incessant fuel scarcity at the end of every year stating that the company has exported 800 vessels of petroleum products that runs into millions of litres of out of the country <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Dangote Group is implementing major logistics and production expansion strategies in its fertilizer operations to meet growing domestic and international demand&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bird added that the company is planning to triple Nigeria&#8217;s urea production capacity to about 9 million tonnes per year<\/p>\n<p>The expansion according to the managing director, is part of a broader industrial growth plan covering refining, Petrochemicals and agriculture adding that the development is to position the company as the world\u2019s largest urea producer and strengthen the nation&#8217;s export earnings<\/p>\n<p>On electricity generation, Bird stated that the company has generated enough electricity that can power five states across the country <\/p>\n<p>The CEO while enumerating some of the challenges facing  the company said lack of enough crude oil has hampered their production but pointed out that the company has opened up discussions with the federal government for the supply of enough crude oil for maximum production<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, David Bird, has pledged to position the facility as the best refinery in the world within the next five years.
