The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command on Thursday, 5 February 2026, received the Zonal Coordinator, Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) Mohammed Babandede, on a familiarisation visit. <\/p>\n
During the visit, ACG Babandede commended officers and men of the Command for their exceptional performance in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and trade facilitation throughout 2025. He noted that the Command had not only met but exceeded its annual revenue target, a feat he described as a testament to their dedication and professionalism. <\/p>\n
The Zonal Coordinator also lauded the Command\u2019s seizures of narcotics and other illicit substances, including cocaine and tramadol, stressing that such interceptions are critical to safeguarding national security, public health, and societal well-being. He emphasized that strong enforcement remains essential to creating a secure environment for legitimate trade to flourish. <\/p>\n
Highlighting the broader responsibilities of the Service beyond revenue collection, Babandede praised the Command\u2019s effective inter-agency collaboration and urged officers to deepen cooperation with sister agencies. He encouraged the adoption of modern trade facilitation tools that have elevated the Service\u2019s operational standards. <\/p>\n
He further underscored the importance of integrity, mentorship, reputational management, and officers\u2019 welfare, noting that senior officers must transfer knowledge and experience to younger colleagues. Babandede disclosed that drug tests would be conducted across Commands and advised officers to remain health-conscious to ensure effective service delivery. <\/p>\n
In his remarks, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and motivating.
