The Academic and Grant Writing Enclave (AGE) has announced that its nationwide training initiative has enabled Nigerian researchers to successfully access \u20a62.5 billion from the Federal Government\u2019s \u20a65 billion National Research Fund (NRF) for the 2024\/2025 cycle. <\/p>\n
The NRF, managed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is designed to drive research-based solutions in key national sectors including power, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, and communications. <\/p>\n
During a press briefing, AGE\u2019s Legal Adviser, Barrister Hamman Ezekiel Pwana, highlighted that the organisation\u2019s structured mentorship and training programmes have significantly improved the quality of proposals submitted by Nigerian academics. He noted that many researchers previously struggled with the technical and administrative demands of competitive funding, but AGE\u2019s intervention has bridged critical gaps in proposal development, budgeting, compliance, and research translation. <\/p>\n
Pwana added that additional support from public, private, and international partners is expected to further amplify the impact of these research outcomes. <\/p>\n
AGE explained that its programme includes hands-on sessions on Proposal conceptualisation and alignment with national priorities, Effective budgeting and compliance strategies, and Presenting research outputs for adoption by policymakers and industry leaders <\/p>\n
The organisation emphasised that the successful mobilisation of \u20a62.5 billion demonstrates growing confidence in locally driven research initiatives and underscores the increasing relevance of Nigerian scholarship to national development. <\/p>\n
Looking ahead, AGE reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the programme across all geopolitical zones, strengthening collaborations with universities, research institutes, and professional bodies.
