{"id":9389,"date":"2026-01-24T09:21:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T09:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/?p=9389"},"modified":"2026-01-24T09:21:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T09:21:14","slug":"klt-customs-command-records-%e2%82%a6147-2bn-revenue-in-2025-seizes-expired-imports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/2026\/01\/24\/klt-customs-command-records-%e2%82%a6147-2bn-revenue-in-2025-seizes-expired-imports\/","title":{"rendered":"KLT Customs Command Records \u20a6147.2bn Revenue in 2025, Seizes Expired Imports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Tunde Ojudun<\/p>\n<p>The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a remarkable revenue performance for 2025, alongside intensified enforcement against expired and improperly declared imports.  <\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Acting Comptroller  Bolaji Lukmon Adigun reaffirmed the Command\u2019s commitment to facilitating legitimate trade, curbing smuggling, enforcing customs laws, and safeguarding both national revenue and public health.  <\/p>\n<p>He announced that expired raw materials in<br \/>\n  a 20-foot container (GESU3900612) containing 440 bags of 25kg expired Triple Pressed Stearic Acid imported from Indonesia was intercepted during routine cargo checks. Valued at \u20a636,556,539, the consignment has been handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for investigation and destruction.  <\/p>\n<p>  Another 40-foot container (MSKU4798018), declared as \u201czipped luggage,\u201d was discovered to contain empty suitcases worth \u20a65,010,000. The seizure underscores the Command\u2019s zero-tolerance policy on false declarations and trade infractions.  <\/p>\n<p>According to the Acting Comptroller, the Command generated \u20a6147.216 billion in 2025, surpassing its target of \u20a6109.443 billion and marking a 35% increase over the \u20a6107.183 billion recorded in 2024. Adigun attributed the achievement to improved revenue mobilization, strengthened enforcement strategies, and greater compliance among stakeholders.  <\/p>\n<p>Adigun expressed gratitude to Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Customs management team for their support. He also commended officers, compliant stakeholders, partner agencies, and the press for their cooperation.  <\/p>\n<p>Receiving the seized items on behalf of NAFDAC, Chief Regulatory Officer Mr. Olujimi Oluwaseun praised the longstanding collaboration between the two agencies.
