A lawyer and writer, Mr. Tomiwa Olasiyan, has filed a \u20a6405 million lawsuit against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its National Chairman over alleged copyright infringement.
\nOlasiyan, who is based in Abuja, claimed the APC used his 2014 article without his permission and misrepresented him as the party\u2019s reporter.
\nHe said he authored the article titled \u201cLet Buhari Do It This Time\u201d and submitted it only to the Daily Sun and Nigerian Tribune.
\nAccording to the suit, the APC published the article on its official Facebook page on December 24, 2014, tagging him as \u201cOur Reporter\u201d and implying he was a party member or campaign worker.
\nOlasiyan alleged that the unauthorized post misrepresented him, damaged his reputation, and provided an undue advantage to the party during the 2015 election season.
\nHe said he only discovered the post in June 2025, nearly 10 years after it was published.
\nThe suit, filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeks a declaration of his copyright, a perpetual injunction restraining the APC from using the article, and a court-ordered apology in two national newspapers.
\nAdditionally, Olasiyan is claiming \u20a6400 million as damages and \u20a65 million to cover legal costs.
\nThe APC has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
\nThe next court date for the matter is scheduled for December 2, 2025, at Federal High Court 9, Abuja.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
