He emphasized that the maritime press had significantly amplified the efforts of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and NIMASA in projecting Nigeria’s maritime potential and administrative competence to the international community.

Osagie underscored the importance of developmental journalism in national progress, urging journalists to prioritize patriotism and national interest in their reportage. “The international community pays close attention to every report about Nigeria. It is imperative that our narratives reflect our commitment to nation-building,” he stated.

He also addressed recent misinformation surrounding the arrest of the vessel MT SKIPPER by the United States Coast Guard over alleged crude oil theft. He criticized attempts to link the vessel to Nigeria, describing such actions as either misinformed or deliberately misleading.

Despite acknowledging that NIMASA may not have fully met the expectations of MARAN members, Osagie commended the association for its professionalism and balanced reporting. “MARAN has consistently demonstrated integrity in its coverage.
