He commended his predecessor, ACG Muhammed Shuaibu, for his exemplary service and achievements, promising to build on the solid foundation laid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am fully aware of the weight of responsibility that comes with this position, especially in a zone as dynamic and challenging as Lagos and its environs,\u201d Aliyu stated. \u201cWith the professionalism and dedication of our officers, I am confident we will continue to deliver on our mandate effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He outlined his strategic priorities, which include promoting professionalism, discipline, and ethical conduct among officers, enhancing stakeholder engagement and inter-agency collaboration, investing in capacity building and prioritizing officer welfare, and upholding justice, equity, and fairness in all operations<\/p>\n<p>Aliyu emphasized that the unit\u2019s operations will be guided by three core pillars: management reform, compliance enforcement, and reputation enhancement. He also assured stakeholders and the trading community of an open-door policy and a commitment to lawful trade facilitation.<\/p>\n<p>In his valedictory address, ACG Shuaibu reflected on the unit\u2019s accomplishments during his seven-month tenure, which began on April 23, 2025. Under his leadership, FOU Zone A recorded:<br \/>\n&#8211; 476 interceptions involving 761 items with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) exceeding \u20a610.151 billion<br \/>\n&#8211; Seizures including 23,000 bags of foreign parboiled rice (equivalent to 38 trailers), 98 used vehicles, 2,350 kg of cannabis, 1,820 jerry cans of PMS, 15 rifles, 4,841 rounds of ammunition, 25 kg of crystal meth, and four 50kg cylinders of Russian-made explosives<br \/>\n&#8211; Confiscation of $30,000 and 110 CFA (\u20a631 million) forfeited to the Federal Government<br \/>\n&#8211; Handover of eight containers of expired pharmaceuticals worth \u20a67.5 billion to NAFDAC<br \/>\n&#8211; Recovery of \u20a6419.2 million through demand notices on under-declared imports<\/p>\n<p>He attributed these successes to the dedication of his officers and the support of stakeholders, urging continued cooperation with Comptroller Aliyu.<\/p>\n<p>He was confident that the structures he put in place will continue to thrive and congratulate his successor and wish him success as he leads the unit to greater heights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tunde Ojudun Comptroller Gambo Aliyu officially took over as the new Controller of the Federal Operations Unit o(FOU) Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday, pledging to strengthen intelligence-led operations and uphold the unit\u2019s mandate of combating smuggling and illicit trade.
