In a major breakthrough against transnational drug trafficking, the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 25.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed aboard the Brazilian vessel MV San Anthonio.<\/p>\n
The illicit cargo\u201424 parcels hidden in five bags\u2014was uncovered during a targeted search operation, guided by actionable intelligence. The vessel, which had previously docked in Brazil, Honduras, and Guatemala, was flagged due to its suspicious route through known narcotics corridors.<\/p>\n
Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, Customs Area Controller, hailed the operation as a testament to the growing synergy between the NCS and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). He emphasized that the seizure aligns with the zero-tolerance stance of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on illicit trade.<\/p>\n
According to Comptroller Oshoba who spoke while handing over the illicit drugs, it is the result of meticulous profiling and intelligence-led collaboration, adding that the detention of the vessel sends a strong message to criminal syndicates that Nigerian ports are not safe havens for illicit activities.<\/p>\n
With the festive season approaching, Oshoba reaffirmed the Command\u2019s commitment to national security, declaring that all consignments will undergo rigorous scrutiny to ensure compliance with declarations.<\/p>\n
