Nigeria\u2019s maritime sector is celebrating a significant diplomatic milestone as the country secures a seat in Category C of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, marking after a 14-year absence.<\/p>\n
Leading the chorus of commendation, the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) congratulated the Federal Government on the achievement, calling it a pivotal moment for Nigeria\u2019s maritime resurgence and a major endorsement of the country\u2019s blue economy agenda.<\/p>\n
In a statement released last Friday, Jayeolatunde Ayodele, MARAN\u2019s Caretaker Chairman, expressed immense joy over the development, describing it as a reflection of renewed international confidence in Nigeria\u2019s maritime reforms and security initiatives.<\/p>\n
Ayodele credited the success to the year-long diplomatic efforts spearheaded by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, whose global engagements helped restore Nigeria\u2019s credibility within the IMO. He emphasized that the victory reaffirms Nigeria\u2019s strategic role in the Gulf of Guinea and strengthens its influence in shaping global maritime policies.<\/p>\n
