At a seminar in Lagos on Tuesday focused on B\u2019Odogwu Technology and the Role of Women in Nigerian Maritime Development, Princess Chi Ezeh, Vice Chairman, Seaports of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), spotlighted the transformative potential of the B\u2019Odogwu platform in revitalizing Nigeria\u2019s inefficient port system.<\/p>\n
Despite Nigeria\u2019s ports being ranked among the least efficient globally\u2014plagued by delays, complex procedures, and security challenges\u2014Princess Ezeh described B\u2019Odogwu as a game-changer. The platform, she explained, seamlessly integrates multiple trade and regulatory agencies, drastically reducing cargo clearance times from weeks to mere hours. It also enhances real-time cargo tracking and curbs bureaucratic bottlenecks and corruption.<\/p>\n
She cited the Apapa Customs Command\u2019s collection of over \u20a6161 billion in just three weeks of using B\u2019Odogwu as proof of its effectiveness in boosting government revenue and facilitating trade.<\/p>\n
Ezeh emphasized that the platform\u2019s efficiency will gradually eliminate high operational costs that deter investors from the port sector.<\/p>\n
Calling the maritime sector the \u201clifeblood\u201d of Nigeria\u2019s economy, she praised B\u2019Odogwu for addressing long-standing challenges and envisioned a future where Nigerian ports operate with transparency, security, and inclusivity.<\/p>\n
Princess Ezeh also celebrated the growing role of women in the maritime industry, traditionally dominated by men. She highlighted their contributions\u2014resilience, innovation, and fresh perspectives\u2014while acknowledging ongoing barriers such as limited access to funding, mentorship, and persistent gender bias.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on her own experience, Ezeh shared that the sector has been both challenging and rewarding, reinforcing her belief in collective effort and innovation as keys to progress.<\/p>\n
She urged stakeholders to accelerate digital adoption, promote transparency, enhance security, and champion gender inclusivity. \u201cTogether, we can unlock Nigeria\u2019s vast maritime resources, create jobs, and drive sustainable economic growth for generations to come,\u201d she declared.<\/p>\n
