He noted that this visit was not only to extend a warm welcome to CP Iyabode but also to introduce the newly elected Union executives and reinforce the longstanding collaboration between MWUN and the Command.<\/p>\n<p>He described MWUN as the largest and most strategic trade union in Nigeria, deeply integrated into the operations of the Western Port Command, which serves as a vital gateway to the nation\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Comrade Bunu pledged the Union\u2019s continued support for the Command, stressing the importance of a unified approach to port security. He introduced key branch leaders\u2014Comrade Agboola Bolaji (Dockworkers Branch) and Comrade Olufemi Oluyinka Abass (Shipping Branch)\u2014as direct contacts for the Command in cases requiring immediate Union input.<\/p>\n<p>He also outlined the Union\u2019s structure, comprising four branches: Dockworkers, Seafarers &#038; NIWA, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), and Shipping. Given his national responsibilities, he assured the CP that his team is always available to assist in his absence.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Iyabode expressed appreciation for the visit, describing the MWUN delegation as resourceful and the engagement as timely. She affirmed that securing the port is a shared responsibility and welcomed MWUN\u2019s active involvement.<\/p>\n<p>She emphasized the importance of mutual respect and regular communication between the Police and the Union, noting that MWUN is a key stakeholder in the port\u2019s daily operations. CP Iyabode pledged to maintain a civil and collaborative environment, ensuring that legitimate businesses within the port are protected.<\/p>\n<p>Both parties agreed to maintain open channels for operational discussions and information sharing.
