When Dr. Babatunde O. Olomu PhD assumed leadership as Area Controller of the Apapa Customs Command on May 6, 2024, few could have predicted the seismic shift that was about to unfold. Taking over from Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba (rtd), Olomu brought with him a reputation for administrative precision and an unyielding commitment to revenue mobilization. Within five months, he shattered expectations\u2014collecting an unprecedented \u20a618.2 billion in a single day in October 2024, and closing that month with a staggering \u20a6264.455 billion.<\/p>\n
By the end of 2024, Apapa Command had amassed a jaw-dropping \u20a62.2 trillion in revenue\u2014more than double the \u20a6931.1 billion collected in 2023, marking a 101% increase. And Olomu wasn\u2019t done.<\/p>\n
In 2025, his momentum only intensified. On March 14, he set a new daily record with \u20a618.9 billion collected in just 24 hours. Between January and August 2025, the command generated over \u20a61.808 trillion, reinforcing Apapa\u2019s position as Nigeria\u2019s revenue powerhouse.<\/p>\n
In just 16 months\u2014from May 2024 to August 2025\u2014ACG Olomu oversaw a cumulative revenue haul of \u20a63.7 trillion. This feat remains unmatched in the history of the Nigeria Customs Service and stands as a testament to his strategic brilliance, operational discipline, and the tireless dedication of his officers.<\/p>\n
Under Olomu\u2019s watch, the command also intercepted high-profile seizures, including containers laden with contraband, expired pharmaceuticals, and undeclared goods\u2014further cementing his reputation as a vigilant enforcer of trade compliance.<\/p>\n
On September 2, 2025, Olomu was decorated in Abuja alongside other newly promoted senior officers, ascending to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General. As he prepares to take on higher responsibilities, Apapa Command bids farewell to one of its most transformative leaders.<\/p>\n
