On Tuesday, August 19th, the Courier Staff Association of Nigeria (CALSSAN), an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) at the Union Secretariat in Olodi-Apapa, Lagos.<\/p>\n
The CALSSAN delegation, led by Comrade Emeka Cyril Ekeh (Deputy President), Comrade Akor Jonah (State Vice Chairman), and Comrade Inih Ekwere (State Secretary), was warmly received by MWUN\u2019s newly elected President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, alongside his national executive team.<\/p>\n
The visit was aimed at congratulating Comrade Bunu on his electoral victory and exploring avenues for strategic collaboration between both unions. CALSSAN emphasized the shared interests and mutual goals of the two bodies, expressing confidence in Comrade Bunu\u2019s dynamic leadership to foster stronger ties and drive progress within the labour sector.<\/p>\n
In his response, Comrade Bunu assured CALSSAN of MWUN\u2019s full cooperation, highlighting the importance of solidarity and unity in achieving meaningful results for Nigerian workers. He reiterated MWUN\u2019s commitment to promoting workers\u2019 welfare, stating that a healthy workforce is the foundation of a thriving organization.<\/p>\n
The President-General also affirmed that MWUN\u2019s doors remain open for continued engagement and partnership, emphasizing that mutual support among labour unions is essential for sustainable development and improved working conditions.<\/p>\n
