President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Tokyo, Japan, early Tuesday morning to participate in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), scheduled for August 20\u201322 at the Pacifico Yokohama.<\/p>\n
According to a press statement by the Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), he was welcomed at Haneda International Airport by Ambassador Hideo Matsubara, the Japanese envoy overseeing TICAD logistics, Nigeria\u2019s Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, and officials from the Nigerian Embassy. His plane landed at 12:50 a.m. local time.<\/p>\n
TICAD, a triennial summit initiated by the Japanese government and co-hosted by the United Nations, UNDP, African Union Commission, and the World Bank, serves as a strategic platform for fostering Africa\u2019s development through global partnerships. The previous edition was held in Tunisia.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s theme, \u201cCo-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,\u201d centers on driving economic transformation across the continent by enhancing business environments, strengthening institutions, and promoting private investment and innovation. The summit also aims to advance peace, human security, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
