The Tin Can Island Port Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has set a new record in revenue generation even as it remains committed to trade facilitation and anti-smuggling drive. <\/p>\n
This new milestone achieved under the leadership of Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka is unprecedented in the history of the command.<\/p>\n
Revenue figures released by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Oscar Ivara, revealed that the Command generated a whopping sum of \u20a6128,446,323,224.79 in May 2025. This represents a substantial increase compared to the \u20a692,671,603,418.04 generated in the corresponding month of May 2024.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, revenue performance in April 2025 was very outstanding as the Command generated \u20a6145,000,000,000.00, which was more than the \u20a695,500,000,000.00 generated in April 2024.<\/p>\n
These steady monthly increases attest to a trend of increased effectiveness and better performance at the command. <\/p>\n
Comptroller Onyeka has been very focused and uncompromising in ensuring that all loopholes are blocked as he gives effective coordination to the Command’s activities since assuming office as controller of the command. <\/p>\n
Commenting on the new record broken, Onyeka reiterated his commitment to achieving seamless revenue generation through legitimate means, stating: \u201cMy aim is to generate revenue seamlessly. I encourage trade facilitation, but the trade has to be legitimate and not harmful to the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
His administrative finesse has also given birth to a robust stakeholder engagement that has been applauded as exemplary, contributing to the overall success recorded in recent months. <\/p>\n
