Following the court order that the shares of Keystone Bank Limited previously held by
\nthe shareholders be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Central Bank
\nof Nigeria (CBN) has reassured members of the public that Keystone Bank Limited remains
\nsafe, sound, and fully operational.<\/p>\n
The apex bank, in a statement signed by its Acting-Director Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi Alli, acknowledged that the development may have triggered customer concerns, emphasizing that the stability of the banking system and the safety
\nof depositors’ funds remain its top priorities. <\/p>\n
According to the statement, the bank’s operations are entirely
\nsecure, and there is no reason for concern.<\/p>\n
“For clarity, the court order merely reaffirmed the Central Bank of Nigeria’s prior
\ndecision to take over the management of Keystone Bank Limited in January 2024,
\nfollowing a change in its leadership. Since then, the CBN has closely monitored the
\nbank’s operations to ensure they are in full compliance with regulatory standards,
\noperational transparency, and the interests of depositors, it stated<\/p>\n
The apex bank informed that as part of its commitment to safeguarding the financial system and building public
\ntrust, it shall continue to monitor the bank’s performance. <\/p>\n
“We will take all necessary
\nsteps to protect the interests of depositors, staff, and stakeholders”, it assured.<\/p>\n
