A former Governor of the defunct Bendel State, former Minister of Transport and former Minister of FCT, General Jeremiah Timbut Useni (rtd) is dead. Lt. Gen. Useni was called “Jerry Boy” in his heyday died at a ripe age of 82 years after a protracted illness. <\/p>\n
Reacting to his demise, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, described the death of one of his predecessors, Lt. General Jeremiah Useni, as the \u201cfall of one of the biggest trees in the forest of Nigeria\u201d.<\/p>\n
The minister stated that the retired Army General will be missed by all.<\/p>\n
Wike noted through his Senior Specialist Assistant (SSA), on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, that the late General was a leader Nigerians will never forget for helping to develop the FCT when he served as the Minister between 1993 and 1998.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom joining the Army at the age of 14, to becoming the Military Governor of the defunct Bendel State, Minister of Transport, Quarter-Master General of the Nigeria Army, FCT Minister and Senator for the Plateau South of Plateau State, Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, can be said to be among those Nigerians who saw it all and lived a life of service to the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a jolly good fellow, fondly called \u2018Jerry Boy,\u2019 who took service to the people as his number one priority.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigerians, especially the Tarok people of Plateau State will never forget the late General for epitomising great virtues.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will be sorely missed by the entire people of Plateau State, Nigerian Armed Forces and Nigerians in general.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of myself and residents of the FCT, I mourn the departure of General Jeremiah Timbut Oseni, a great man, a Patriot, a fine military officer, a Politician, a Peacemaker and a man of faith in the Almighty God. <\/p>\n
