{"id":6896,"date":"2024-11-27T00:31:25","date_gmt":"2024-11-27T00:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/?p=6896"},"modified":"2024-11-27T00:31:25","modified_gmt":"2024-11-27T00:31:25","slug":"agama-kwarianga-chukwu-other-financial-experts-for-camcan-2024-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/2024\/11\/27\/agama-kwarianga-chukwu-other-financial-experts-for-camcan-2024-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Agama, Kwarianga, Chukwu, Other Financial Experts for CAMCAN 2024 Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Capital Market Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CAMCAN) has concluded arrangements for its 2024 annual workshop, a pivotal gathering aimed at fostering dialogue and proffering solutions to  challenges facing the Nigerian capital market and the broader economy.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop with the theme: \u201cBanks&#8217; Recapitalisation: Bridging the Gap Between Investors and Issuers in the Nigerian Capital Market,\u201d will take place on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, 2024, at Orchid Hotels, Ajah, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The theme highlights the critical need for collaborative efforts to strengthen Nigeria\u2019s financial ecosystem amidst ongoing economic headwinds. <\/p>\n<p>CAMCAN, in a statement, said the workshop seeks to bridge the understanding gap between investors and issuers, a cornerstone for sustainable growth in the capital market, as the banking sector navigates regulatory pressures, economic uncertainties and evolving market demands.<\/p>\n<p>It noted that  the theme reflects the strategic importance of banks in driving economic development and their significant role within the capital market. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecapitalisation has become a pressing issue as Nigerian banks face the need to bolster their capital base to meet regulatory requirements, withstand global financial shocks, and support the economy\u2019s financing needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has implemented stringent capital adequacy standards to ensure financial stability. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These reforms require banks to raise significant capital, often through the capital market, making the relationship between investors and issuers more critical than ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEffective recapitalisation strategies hinge on robust investor confidence. A clear understanding of how funds will be deployed, coupled with transparent communication, is essential to attract investment and drive successful capital raises,&#8221; the association said.<\/p>\n<p> CAMCAN said that banking sector\u2019s capacity to support other sectors such as manufacturing and agriculture would depend on its financial strength.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recapitalisation efforts are integral to empowering banks to provide the long-term financing needed for Nigeria\u2019s economic diversification agenda,\u201d the association said.<\/p>\n<p>It stated that the two-day event would bring together regulators, financial experts, bank executives, capital market operators, and policy stakeholders. <\/p>\n<p>The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr Emomotimi Agama, will be the special guest of honour.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc., Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, will chair the workshop, while the Managing Director\/Chief Executive Officer of Cowry Asset Management, Mr Johnson Chukwu, will be the guest speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group, Mr Temi Popoola, and the  Chief Executive Officer of\u00a0FMDQ Group Plc,\u00a0Mr Bola Onadele, will be  guests of honour.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will feature a panel of discussants from representatives of regulatory organisations and operators in the capital market, who will bring insightful perspectives to the guest speaker\u2019s presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, CAMCAN has consistently championed initiatives to advance the Nigerian capital market through research, advocacy and dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 workshop underscores its commitment to addressing pressing economic issues and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>As the Nigerian economy seeks pathways to stability and growth, the workshop\u2019s outcomes are expected to provide actionable insights, shape policies and strategies for a stronger financial system and a more vibrant capital market.<\/p>\n<p>The FMDQ Group Plc will be leading other sponsors to the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The other sponsors include: Oando Plc, NGX Group, Securities and Exchange Commission, Seplat Energy, Central Securities Clearing System, United Bank for Africa, Zenith Bank, the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System, GTCO, Access Corporation, FBN Holdings, Union Bank, United Capital, FCMB, Fidelity Bank and  Nestle Nigeria, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Capital Market Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CAMCAN) has concluded arrangements for its 2024 annual workshop, a pivotal gathering aimed at fostering dialogue and proffering solutions to challenges facing the Nigerian capital market and the broader economy.
