In its efforts to help Nigerians in this period of high prices of staples, a Nigerian firm, Egoras, has decided to sell a 50kg bag of rice at N45,000.
\nThe decision was informed by the company’s corporate social responsibility program to ease the burden of rising food costs.
\n Currently, a 50kg bag of rice sells for between N74,000 to N80,000. The charity-driven initiative to sell a 50kg bag of locally produced rice for N45,000 will begin on Saturday, October 12, 2024. <\/p>\n
Egoras’ Managing Director\/CEO, Ugoji Harry, expressed the company\u2019s commitment to supporting communities in need during these challenging times.
\nHe added that at a significantly reduced price of N45,000 per 50kg bag, his firm aims to offer Nigerians some relief from the impact of soaring food prices. Leadership reports that he said the decision is due to the increasing hardship many face in securing basic food supplies.
\n\u201cThe current economic situation has pushed many families into extreme financial strain. Food is becoming unaffordable for many households, and as a company, we feel a responsibility to support our communities,\u201d he stated with concern.
\n Harry noted that the discounted rice is not intended for resellers or distributors to ensure the initiative directly benefits those in need. His words: \u201cWe have set a limit of one bag per customer to prevent exploitation. We want to ensure that as many households as possible benefit from this initiative and that people do not buy in bulk just to resell it at a profit.”<\/p>\n
However, the discounted rice may not get to all Nigerians as the distribution points will be in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. To make its purchase easy, interested Nigerians are advised to pre-order through the company\u2019s website, using this link egomart.org, as it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
\n \u201cWe believe that this effort, while small, will provide some relief to those most in need. Every bag of rice sold at this price is helping a family get through these tough times,” Harry said. <\/p>\n
