The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Sunday Okpebholo, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
\nThe Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Kuta, announced Okpebholo as the winner at the collation centre in Benin City, the state capital, this Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
Okpebholo got 291,667 votes to defeat Ighodalo, who secured 247,274 votes. Labour Party’s candidate, came Akpata came third with 22,763 votes.
\nProf. Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, declared, \u201cThat Okpebholo, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Edo State, with 18 Local Government Areas, is divided into Edo North, Edo South, and Edo Central. <\/p>\n
