The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized three petrol tanker trucks transporting crude edible vegetable oil in Lagos.<\/p>\n
NAFDAC announced this in a post on its X handle.<\/p>\n
It said the vegetable oil had already been trans-loaded into the tankers from an edible oil depot.<\/p>\n
It said its officials then escorted the tankers to a processing facility in Sango-Ota<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crude soy oil was then handed over to the Southwest Zonal Office of NAFDAC for further regulatory action.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Director-General of NAFDAC has since established a committee to develop guidelines and a code of ethics for the marketing and distribution of edible vegetable oils in Nigeria,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
NAFDAC said it was concerned about the potential health risks due to chemical contamination from the tankers\u2019 previous used for transporting petrol.<\/p>\n
It advised members of the public to report any suspicious or unwholesome practices related to food and regulated products.<\/p>\n
