Customs Area Controller (CAC), Tin Can Island Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, has inducted Mr. Godfrey Bibvere, President of Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) as Time Release Study (TRS) Ambassador.
\nThe induction ceremony which took place on Friday, July 12 at the association\u2019s International Press Center situated at No 13c Marine Road, Apapa GRA, in Lagos was electric.
\nMARAN President, Mr. Bibvere, a seasoned maritime journalist, was selected for this role due to his extensive knowledge and experience in trade facilitation and Customs procedures. As TRS Ambassador, he will play a crucial role in promoting the use of Time Release Study, a tool used to measure the efficiency of customs procedures and identify areas for improvement.
\nWorld Customs Organisation (WCO) assisted TRS was launched in Tin Can Island Port (TICP) in February 2024 to determine the length of time it takes to clear cargo at the port.
\nTin Can Port, according to Nnadi was chosen for the TRS because of the delay in cargo release which was already known about the port.
\nComptroller Nnadi in his remarks, emphasized the importance of TRS in enhancing trade facilitation and revenue collection. He charged Mr. Bibvere to use his expertise to promote the adoption of TRS by all stakeholders in the trade chain.
\nMr. Bibvere, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Tin Can Controller and the NCS for the honour and pledged to work tirelessly to promote TRS and improve Nigeria’s trade facilitation landscape.
\nThe induction ceremony which took place at the MARAN Secretariat was also witnessed by Customs officials from Tin Can port and journalists covering maritime beat in Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
