The Oyo\/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of the Customs Area Controller, Dr. Ben Oramalugo PhD, FCIA, FNIM, conducted a landmark Command Parade on Thursday 6th June, 2024 at the command headquarters in Ibadan.
\nA press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Kayode Wey stressed that the event marked Oramalugo’s first command parade with the officers of the command post COVID-19.
\nThe statement informed that the parade, held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, was a significant occasion for the Oyo\/Osun Area Command as it offered an opportunity for the controller to further outline his vision and strategic goals for the Command. It also provided a platform to foster camaraderie, inform officers of the various reforms been put in place by the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MNIPR, dsm, fnipr, PSC (+) and members of his management and to reaffirm the commitment of the officers to the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.
\nIn his address to the officers, Oramalugo emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
\nHis words: “As we embark on this journey together, it is imperative that we uphold the highest standards of integrity and service. Our mission is to facilitate legitimate trade, curb smuggling, and contribute to the economic growth of our nation. I am confident that, with your support and cooperation, we will achieve more remarkable success.”
\nHe also highlighted several key initiatives aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the Command. These include intensified anti-smuggling operations, improved revenue collection mechanisms, and the adoption of modern technologies to streamline customs processes.
\nThe controller further stressed the importance of continuous training and capacity building for Officers to keep pace with global best practices.The parade featured a ceremonial inspection of the officers by Oramalugo followed by a demonstration of the command\u2019s operational readiness and capabilities.
\nHe expressed his appreciation for their cooperation so far and pledged his unwavering commitment to the welfare and professional development of the officers. He also called for increased collaboration and communication within the command to address challenges and leverage opportunities effectively.
\nThe maiden Command Parade concluded with a reaffirmation of the officers’ dedication to their duties and a renewed sense of purpose under the controller’s leadership.
