The five years old crisis that engulfed the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) was reluctantly brought to an end on Wednesday after the big stick wielded by the Chairman, Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Alhaji Abubakar Tsanni.
\nA reconciliation meeting between the executives faction led by Dr. Kayode Farinto and BoT faction headed by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha almost failed to produce a positive result until the CRFFN chairman, seething with anger and frustration, seized the association’s certificate of registration.
\nThe peace meeting was held at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.
\nThe CRFFN sponsored the AGM and brokered the truce.
\nPrince Taye Oyeniyi later agreed to step down as a member of BoT and for this gesture was rewarded with the post of patron.<\/p>\n
After the successful swearing in of the 8-man BoT, the CRFFN chairman returned the Association\u2019s certificate to the Acting President.<\/p>\n
>The newly inaugurated eight BoT members are; Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, Dayo Azeez, Sir Ernest Elochukwu, Sir Dennis Okafor, Prince Ozo Chukwura, Alhaji Shamsideen Awopeju, Kingsley Offor and Mr. Eniola Igbaruola.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Alhaji Mustapha appealed to all aggrieved members of ANLCA to embrace peace.<\/p>\n
His words: \u201cWhatever was brought to the table today was out of being magnanimous. It has been a situation of give and take. We must have the spirit of forgiveness. This ANLCA will be great again.”<\/p>\n
The acting President had earlier enjoined all members of the association to accept the new arrangement but not after pointing out that the powers of the BoT in ANLCA should be reduced.
