For his hard work, innovation, dedication to duties and exemplary leadership, the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, was at the weekend honoured by the Presidency through Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) with an award as the Distinguished Trailblazer for exemplary leadership.
\nAside the prestigious individual award Jamoh received, NIMASA, the agency he oversees with diligence was among other recipients of the corporate awards for the best Federal Ministry, Department and Agency, (MDA) in Digital Transformation.
\nOther recipients of the Presidential recognition include the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State Government and the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
\nJamoh, who led the NIMASA Management team to the BPSR Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards presentation ceremony in Abuja, dedicated both awards to members of staff of NIMASA and the entire stakeholders in the maritime industry.
\nThe NIMASA DG added that the award will only motivate him to serve better.
\nHis words:\u201cThis award from BPSR and by extension the presidency is a call to serve more.
\n\u201cWe didn\u2019t set out to win any award. I am most delighted at the fact that others are watching every step we take at NIMASA.
\n\u201dI dedicate this award to team NIMASA and the entire stakeholders in the maritime industry.
\n\u201dWe will not relent in our quest to completely digitalise the operations of the Agency with professionalism at the core of the reforms.\u201d
\nThe Director General, BPSR, Dasuki Arabi, said that the awardees were chosen based on performance and their achievements.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cWe assessed the Agencies based on their adoption of ICT in rendering services to citizens in line with the approved e-government master plan of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
\n\u201d President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has maintained that Information Technology (IT) is the way forward, so we don\u2019t have any option than to adopt the use of IT in delivering service in our Ministries Departments and Agencies\u201d.
\n\u201cI wish to congratulate NIMASA and other Agencies of government for these wonderful awards.<\/p>\n
\u201dI want to congratulate the leadership of the Agency (Jamoh) too for the wonderful work he is doing and I ask him to do more. To whom much is given, much is expected,\u201d Arabi said.
