The Lagos State Government has commenced commercial operation of the Blue Line Rail Mass with Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, taking an inaugural ride from Marina to Mile-2.<\/p>\n
It was first conceived in 1983.<\/p>\n
Recall that former President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the first phase of the train station in Lagos in January.<\/p>\n
The first phase extends from Marina to Mile 2 and is 13 kilometres.<\/p>\n
The 27km rail line will transport about 500,000 passengers daily.<\/p>\n
The first phase has five stations \u2014 Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba and Orile station.<\/p>\n
The full trip from Marina to Mile 2 will cost N750, while zonal fares \u2014 for passengers who are not making a full trip \u2014 will be between N400 and N500.<\/p>\n
The Blue Line Rail Project was proposed in 1983 during the administration of the former Governor of Lagos State, the Late Alhaji Lateef Jakande.<\/p>\n
