Eko United Group, A non-political organisation, on Wednesday called on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to produce the original certificate of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu within 48 hours or face legal action.<\/p>\n
The group made the call at a world press conference addressed by its Publicity Secretary Ayodele Kumolu-Johnson, in Lagos.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was imperative for us to speak through this World Press Conference to call on WAEC to produce Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu\u2019s 1981 certificate in the next 48 hours or be ready for litigation in this regard\u201d, the group said.<\/p>\n
The group said that revelations before the gubernatorial election petition tribunal showed clear inconsistency in the WAEC certificate presented by Governor Sanwo-Olu, stressing that the situation was an embarrassment to Lagos State.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is quite unfathomable that Governor Sanwo-Olu, who claimed under oath in his form EC9 for the 2023 election that he sat for WAEC in 1981, refused to attach the said certificate as claimed.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, he attached a statement of his WAEC result from Ijebu Ife Community Grammar School in his Form CF001 while standing for election earlier in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also aware that after the WAEC result verification portal has revealed his attached statement of result to be a forged document, a sudden upload that was hurriedly done didn\u2019t also tally with the statement presented to INEC, despite having same year and exam diet, names on them are clearly different.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has further caused us, the people of Lagos, an embarrassment that needs to be addressed urgently.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is disheartening that an institution like WAEC will expose itself and reveal culpability in the sudden upload of result on the council\u2019s portal, after the same portal had earlier proved the result to be a forged document.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorse still, WAEC appeared at the tribunal to file a motion to stop a forensic analysis of the institution\u2019s back-end server, of course knowing fully well that such a development will expose the complicity in the sudden and fraudulent upload of the result.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the questions begging for answers are:<\/p>\n
\u201cWhose interest is WAEC protecting? What exactly is WAEC out to cover? Why waste public funds on engaging a legal counsel over a matter of no interest to the council?<\/p>\n
\u201cWe firmly believe that all individuals, including elected officials, should be held accountable for their actions.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo complicate this matter, the purported sudden upload of the result was badly done with conspicuous discrepancies in both the new upload and the allegedly forged one he presented to INEC\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
