ANLCA Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u00d1igeri\u00e0 Customs Service like other Customs bodies across the world is an agency of professionals whose mandates are to secure the entry points and ensure that prohibited goods don&#8217;t enter the country while correct duties are collected on goods allowed in.<br \/>\nThe duty of Customs is to facilitate trade, both import and export, and ensure that there is no revenue loss to the government.<br \/>\nMeeting revenue target is outside the duty of Nigeria Customs Service,   the Chairman, KLT chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Comrade Goddy Sewa Soleji has declared.<br \/>\nSoleji stressed that Customs should give more attention to trade facilitation which will in turn buoy  revenue generation.<br \/>\nAccording to him, giving Customs commands targets will force them to go extra mile in over-taxing importers and their agents in order to meet the targets.<br \/>\nThe ANLCA chairman enjoined Customs to promote exports through fast processing for the value of the country&#8217;s currency to appreciate in the foreign exchange market.<br \/>\nSoleji, who is contesting the position of Western Zone Coordinator of ANLCA, also urged agencies involved in the processing of exports to give special attention to perishable goods and make the process seamless for quick clearance so that the commodities can get to the country of destination in good time.<br \/>\nHe stated that this is necessary to encourage Nigerian exporters to continue to patronize the nation&#8217;s ports instead of moving their goods to neighbouring countries.<br \/>\nHe commended the appointment of a career officer as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, saying that is what stakeholders have been expecting because Customs is a professional work and should be headed by a professional.<br \/>\nHe&#8217;s sure that Acting CG Wale Adeniyi knows exactly what is needed to improve upon in Customs.<br \/>\nComrade Soleji tasked the Acting CG and his team to tackle the issue of security at the border areas and fight smuggling to the barest minimum.<br \/>\nHe reiterated his earlier call that Customs has no business with target but adequate policing of entry points for goods entering the country and ensuring that correct duties are paid without compromise. talk of meeting target &#8211;
